The ML7 has been designed to be simple, accurate, and reliable. Through its advanced one-piece head design, ergonomic, lightweight handpiece, CLB® and touch-less blade shuttle, precision vacuum rings, and a simple and efficient console, the ML7 lives up to its catch phrase of “simply accurate.”
Advanced One-Piece Head Design
- Quick connect and disconnect
- Planar flaps
- Epithelium friendly
- Made from durable, hardened stainless steel
The head is a key determinant of accuracy in any microkeratome. For the ML7, we focused on developing the best head possible. In doing so we came up with several proprietary features that improve the accuracy of the microkeratome and make it safer to use. The ML7 head creates planar flaps and addresses the deficiencies that were causing buttonholes in other microkeratome designs. The head is made of a hardened stainless steel, extending the life and accuracy of the device. The end result is a head that is both epithelium and surgeon friendly.
Ergonomic, Lightweight Handpiece
- Helical drive for smooth advancement
- Quick connect to head and console
- Separate motors for oscillation and advancement
- No assembly between eyes
- Weighs less than two ounces
The handpiece is made to be simple, lightweight, and ergonomic. It is completely assembled prior to surgery, so that the surgeon only needs to activate vacuum and go. Between eyes, there is no need for disassembly; the handpiece is all ready to use again. The ML7 Handpiece includes two software controlled motors that deliver constant blade oscillation and advancement rates, resulting in consistent flaps, everytime.
Touch-less Blade Shuttle
- Helical drive for smooth advancement
- Quick connect to head and console
- Separate motors for oscillation and advancement
- No assembly between eyes
- Weighs less than two ounces
Automatically insert the CLB® in the head with the Blade Shuttle. The Blade Shuttle eliminated the potential for accidental edge damage due to blade insertion. The Blade Shuttle aligns the CLB® inside the microkeratome head, so the handpiece just needs to be snapped on and the blade will be engaged and ready to cut.
Precision Vacuum Rings
- Small footprint for use on a wide range of eyes
- Centering marks help ensure proper placement
- Linear rail design creates for smooth advancement
- Vacuum slits reduce the potential for pseudo-suction
The ML7 Vacuum Ring design addresses the short-comings of other traditional microkeratomes, including button holes, pseudo-suction, and de-centered flaps. All of the functions of the ML7 Vacuum Ring have been lifted off the surface of the ring to reduce the risk of interference. Using the centering marks on the ML7 Vacuum Ring can also help ensure that a hinge is created with every cut.
Simple, Efficient Console
- Large LED readout
- Simple functions
- Adjustable vacuum
The ML7 Console is designed to be easy to use. The only variable controlled from the console is vacuum, which is varied with the large knob in the center of the unit. Many surgeons adjust the pressure between the first and second eye to compensate for the dulling of the blade edge, while others just turn the console on and forget it’s even there. However you intend to use it, the ML7 Console is ready to perform.
CLB® – Calibrated LASIK Blade
The ML7 was designed around MED-LOGICS’ flagship CLB® product line. At the heart of any good microkeratome is a good blade. For over a decade, MED-LOGICS has been refining the design of LASIK blades in order to improve patient outcomes. That development process has led to our most advanced blade ever, the ML7100 CLB®.
